Mariana Viera-Navarro was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology. She then went on to pursue a career in Physician Assistant studies and a Master of Public Health at Nova Southeastern University. Mariana is NCCPA certified and licensed in the state of Florida since 2002. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) and the Florida Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society (FAAIS).
Mariana joined Dr. Ana M. Lamas in practice shortly upon graduation in 2002. In the ensuing years, she has performed a wide variety of duties. As an allergy PA she evaluates, treats and manages patients with a wide spectrum of allergic disorders. Her personal history of being the parent of a child with food anaphylaxis, has also given her the opportunity to develop an expertise in the evaluation and management of food allergies. She is an advocate for patients with food allergies and is a speaker at several Miami-Dade county schools. She is the Clinical Supervisor for the IVIG infusions, allergy testing and immunotherapy departments. For 12 years, she has been the General Laboratory Supervisor of our in-office laboratory and the recipient of 6 consecutive Laboratory Excellence Awards by COLA.
She has been a preceptor and mentor to many students who have gone on to pursue their medical and Physician Assistant degrees.
Mariana is also a Medical Aesthetics Provider. She is certified in the hCG Medical weight loss program and a member of IAPAM since 2010. She has helped many patients to safely and successfully lose and maintain their weight loss. She is also a certified advanced Ultherapist.
Early on in her career as a PA, Mariana expressed her interest in an Alternative/Integrative medical approach to patient care. She has closely followed developments in this area and has recently attained certification in chelation therapy through the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM). She is now a Certified Chelation Therapist (CCT). She provides chelation therapy using disodium EDTA and high dose vitamins according to the Trial to Access Chelation Therapy (TACT) protocol for cardiovascular disease. In addition, Mariana also offers intravenous nutrient therapy (also known as IV vitamins), as part of an Integrative approach to optimal health and wellness.
She is fluent in Spanish.
